HL-260 Properties and Functional Applications

A video to introduce HIFULL® fumed silica, today we are looking at HIFULL HL-260.

HIFULL HL-260 is hydrophilic fumed silica with a specific surface area around 260㎡ /g. It’s widely used in liquid silicone rubber.

HIFULL HL-260 helps to prevent sedimentation of filler of the liquid silicone rubber /LSR during production and storage period, improve its storage cycle and stability:

  • increase the viscosity and consistency of the LSR, reduce  sagging issues in curing, and makes it more convenient during applying process.
  • improve the rubber’s mechanical properties, toughness and ductility by enhancement tensile strength and elongation at break of LSR;
  • As a reinforcing agent and thickener, HL-260 can increase  bonding strength of adhesives, help for better thixotropy and rheology, and improve applying convenience;
  • improve strength and toughness of unsaturated resins, make mechanical properties better;
  • offer the hot vulcanized silicone rubber excellent tensile and tear strength, and improve its processing property;
  • As rheological agent, HIFULL HL-260 helps to regulate the consistency of coatings, avoid sagging and thick edges during applying or construction; and helps to improve flowing ability of printing ink for good performance.

With its function of reinforcement, anti-settling, anti-sagging, thickening and thixotropic control, HIFULL HL-260 is also applied in ceramic powder materials, personal care, food and construction materials, thermal insulation materials for upgrade product performance and quality.

Pyrohydrolysi & Trichloromethylsilane

Fumed silica is synthesized by the pyrohydrolysis of silicon tetrachloride or trichloromethylsilane in the flame of hydrogen and oxygen. Our main raw material is silicon tetrachloride, and the secondary is trichloromethylsilane.

When fumed silica is used as filler or additives, it helps in thickening, reinforcement, transparency, free-flow, thixotropic performance, dielectric properties, anti-settling, heat insulation, and anti-sagging. For example, for powder products, HIFULL fumed silica is used as an anti-caking agent; for liquid products, HIFULL fumed silica is used as an anti-settling agent or suspending agent.
